Accessibility

A site anyone arranging care can use.

Last updated 19 September 2026

Many of the people using this site are arranging care for a parent or partner, and some are arranging their own. We want every one of them to be able to read it, navigate it, and fill in its forms. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What is in place

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, including the menus. The About menu opens and closes from the keyboard, and Escape closes it.
  • A “Skip to content” link is the first thing the keyboard reaches on every page.
  • Keyboard focus is shown with a visible outline.
  • Every form field has a visible label. Placeholder text is never the only label.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and moving backgrounds are switched off.
  • Nothing plays sound or video automatically.
  • The sample visit records and caregiver cards are real text, so screen readers can read them. Decorative shapes are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Pages work on a phone screen without sideways scrolling, and text can be zoomed.

What we know still needs work

  • Some small labels use light, monospaced type on dark backgrounds. That can be hard to read at small sizes, and we are reviewing it.
  • A full contrast audit and testing with screen readers have not yet been completed on this version of the site.
  • Some content fades in as you scroll. If you are using the site without JavaScript, some sections may not appear.

If something gets in your way

Tell us what you were trying to do and what happened. A person reads every message, and if any part of the site is hard to use, we will give you the same information another way — by email or by phone.
